The Mayor of Bolton has decided against selling his private number plate WH 1 to save the towns libraries.
It has been suggested Betting Company William Hill would pay a staggering £500,000 for the exclusive registration.
Unfortunatley the current law prevents the council from spending the profits into the public, as it must be reinvested into another asset.
It has also been mentioned the private number plate holds incredible history for the town, making it part of Boltons heritage.
