Elephant Car insurance reveals study on Cherished Plates.

September 2011

Elephant has discovered over the years after doing regular surveys more than 3 million policies have personalised plates. According to Insurance Director Brian Martin it is not just people with high-powered occupations living in swanky postcode areas, who own them. Occupations at the top of the list include farriers, newsagents and construction machinery operators and many of the postcode areas with the highest percentage are in rural areas, lots of them in Scotland. According to the study 16 per cent of company chairmen own one, followed by bank directors on 12 per cent and 11 per cent of property developers opting for the personal touch. The study also proved that 36 per cent of Bentley Continental drivers are most likely to own a personalised plate. 35 per cent of Ferrari 360 and Aston martin owners are likely to have one.
