V948 Number Plates Authorisation

When a transfer or assignment (if the registration is coming from a certificate) has taken place at local office level, that office will issue a

V948

document. This will be sent to the keeper of the receiving vehicle in order to enable them to purchase a set of

number plates

displaying that

registration mark

. Whereas, in the past, it was easy to just walk into any motor factor and come away 15 minutes later with a set of

number plates

showing absolutely any

registration mark

you fancied, legislation has been strengthened to ensure that only

registered number plate

supplied are permitted by Law to manufacture and/or to sell/supply

number plates

. When a

registered number plate

supplied does sell a set of number plates they may only do so if they have seen proof that the person making the purchase has a right to the registration mark (a

V948

will suffice) together with personal information which can be in the form of a passport together with a utility bill or a photo-card driving licence.
